About Kaingu Lodge
Kaingu Lodge is situated on the Kafue River, 200 kilometres upstream of its
confluence with the mighty Zambezi River and 400 kilometres north of the
majestic Victoria Falls.
The Lodge is environmentally friendly with the architecture of the entire
camp and associated buildings having been designed to blend in and harmonise
with the surroundings. Maximum use has been made of existing trees, rocky
outcrops and topographical features in its layout and construction, thereby
keeping impacts to a minimum and maintaining the original look and feel of the
area.
>Kaingu Lodge is situated in an area of pristine
wilderness offering a magnificent game and safari experience in the heart of the
African bush. The river ensures that there is something for everyone to do.
Fishing, bird watching, exploring the channels & islands and game watching are
always special on a river like the Kafue.
The Lodge is
accessible 12 months of the year with good road and air access. There is also a
local airstrip. The airstrip is closed during the peak rain season, around
December to March, but road transfers are easily arranged.
The main camp of Kaingu Lodge comprises luxuriously
appointed safari tents set under thatch and placed on raised rosewood platforms
overlooking the river. Each unit has en-suite ablution facilities with hot and
cold running water and 12 Volt solar lighting, and are carefully positioned to
assure privacy, safety and integration with the surrounding vegetation.
The focal point of the Lodge is the open-air central boma with lounge, dining
room and bar facilities as well as an entertainment area under thatch
overlooking the river.
