About Grumeti River Camp
Grumeti River Camp is built amongst tall evergreen trees on the water's edge by
the hippo pools. This area supports
lush riverine forest in contrast to the plains that characterize most of
Serengeti. Migrants mix with the perennial residents including topi, giraffe,
buffalo, and the giant Nile crocodiles for which this area is famous.
Accommodation is in ten luxury twin-bedded tents, complete with en-suite
bathrooms (comprising shower, sculptured basin and w/c). The ragged thatch canopy
lends coolness and solidity to these fantastical safari tents whilst still
affording the thrill of the tented safari. Each tent is decorated in
vibrant colours and the furnishings are sculptured locally. The
public areas of this intimate safari camp include an open-air covered
dining area, a lounge area and domed bar. The domed bar is perfect for
sundowners overlooking the river. A secluded sheltered boma ensures star studded
romantic dinners. The camp also has a swimming pool and leisure deck - both
perched on the banks of the river where guests can view abundant pools of hippo
at play. A curio shop and gallery is located near to the reception area.
